The Freq : Introduction
By The Freq
Webmaster, and local techno man |
Techno is my life, well, not my whole life, but it does play a major part. The idea that great music can be made with only a computer and the right software/hardware got me really into it. This, is my story.
I started listening to techno back when the movie Hackers was out. In the scene where Dade was playing the game Whipout in that club, the song Cowgirl by Underworld was playing in the background. It's fast and randomized 303 pattern just made me go nuts. Unlike other music played with instraments, techno, to me, has a great random feel.
About a year later, a friend of mine introduced me to a program called Rebirth. It's a 303, 808, and 909 emulator that allows average people like you or me to create their own songs, with electronic beats, a thumping baseline, and a hellish ammount of distortion.
Currently, I am awaiting my copy of Rebirth to be shipped out. While I wait, I am putting together modifications. Modificiations are packages filled with new sounds and a new interface made by third parties. Some songs I hope to make are remixs of "Land of Confusion" by Genisis, "Mr Roboto" by Stix, "Pinball Wizard" by The Whoand "Hero" by The Verve Pipe.
