I never really got into The Verve Pipe, I didn't even like "Freshmen" at all. Too soft for my tastes. I am more of a techno guy as most should guess, however, after hearing the song "Hero" on 106.7, I just loved it.
The Story
I went out to party with some friends, just the usual drill, and got mad whacked drunk. Didn't even drink that much either, but that is another story. Anyway, Hero played on the radio, and in the distant world of my own, the song sounded like it was live and right in front of me, as well as sounding 15 minutes long.
Hero also reminds me a lot about myself. I, personally, am somewhat of a jerk and a creep, and like the song says, "It burned like a cancer when the answer did occur to me. Creep from the cradle, but a hero's what I wanna be." That is what makes me like the song so much.
The beat adds a whole lot to it as well, sounding so much like a march. Before I saw the video on M2, I pictured Brian Vander Ark, lead vocals, walking around as he sang it. Funny, because that is exactly what he is doing in the video. I hate it when I think of something cool, and it turns out to have already happened.
All in all, Hero is a great song, and I am currently thinking of making a techno dance mix out of it sometime in the future. However, I cannot give Hero a full 10 on my Freq chart, because A: It isn't techno, and 2: It is still the group that did Freshmen. |
